As they finish taping the last seven episodes (ever!) of Hannah Montana, Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus are getting a little nostalgic. But this sentimentality isn't blurring their focus or lessening their resolve: instead, it's leading to some cool surprises.
The Cyrus crew invited military families to sit in the studio during the March 12 filming of the show, as a way of thanking the troops. With dozens of families in the audience, and many children with parents deployed abroad, Billy Ray and Miley then surprised the crowd by inviting them to take part in the filming of a concert scene for the show, which will air in July.
The 17-year old Cyrus told PEOPLE magazine that, "My dad has always been super involved with the troops so [the producers] always try to find things that are close to our hearts and that we're really involved in."
Billy, who visited Afghanistan and Iraq in December, told PEOPLE magazine he felt it was important to "do an episode to say thank you to the troops."
