Adam Lambert's Performance of Satisfaction Still Tops

March 17, 2010

By Joshua Molina, HispanicBusiness.com

When it comes to singing "The Rolling Stones," Adam Lambert is king.

The Top 12 American Idol contestants sang Stones' songs last night to mixed reviews. But a year ago around this time Adam Lambert was impressing the judges with his version of "Satisfaction."

Adam Lambert's performance was vintage Lambert, vocal muscle, dynamic stage presence, and an energy around him that filled the room with excitement.

Nothing on Tuesday night's show came close, even if judge Kara DioGuardi said contestant Siobhan Magnus' performance reminded her of Lambert. Magnus is more of a reminder of the great Natalie Merchant, than Adam Lambert.

When it comes to Idol's Top 12 this season, like the song, Lambert's fans can't get any satisfaction.

i totally agree, last year adam opened round one with so much excitement but this season none of the contestants showed any potential. adam definitely set the bar so high and it is a problem, people can't help but to mention adam's name, they guy liner who wowed the audience and viewers.

I agree! I finish off every AI Season 9, by watching one of Adam's performances. He is in a league all his own, ALWAYS achieving perfection. No one comes close!

Writer, I think you're right! In fact, after that round the other night I had to go back and watch the Lambert video myself, prior to reading your article. The video you found was even better than the one I watched. I would be curious to know if MJ ever saw his performance...

No one else can come close to dance in the part of greatness, Adam Lambert is the the king of seduction, he is "IT" , vocal virtuso, glam, sex,, do we need to say more,, idol can never be the same, no one comes close with the "it" factor.I am sure that palyed a part of Simon resignation, he has found a world wide star, he waited 8 seasons, check out Adam wowing the international scence in Australia, Singapore and Japan. Current idol performers are okay, like Crystal Bowersox , her originality,, but she also lacks charima and sex appeal to completely take out breath away.Siboen Magnus also an enigma, quirky, unique, reminds me of Megan last season, however not sustainable, we will see.

Adam is best, and no one comes close to his incredible vocal range, his ability to sing any genre, his ability to control his notes even when dancing, or his creativity and stage magnitism. Adam is an exciting new artist. And he can sing any genre. There ae a couple good singers among all the mediocre, but downloading a song or two from them will be enough. But, having seen Adam's live performance- his 1st solo gig-sold out btw, he was so outstanding, magnificent- highest quality entertainment- I'm spoiled and won't settle for less and no one else has his mesmerizing seductive stage charisma.

Well said Joshua.....and I couldn't agree more!! Nothing on this season will compare to Adam...though I did enjoy it when Ryan referred to Adam pulling away from the competition last night...something similar to that. Gosh, I can't wait till he performs on Idol and I personally hope he does the EXACT version of Sleepwalker that he did on Leno....stunningly perfect. Love your site by the way. Great articles.

I half watched all seasons of American Idol. In other words I caught enough episodes to tell you me who were the top two or three but I never watched every show. I didn't know who Kelly Clarkson was until about the top 5. I watched perhaps 3 or 4 shows when Sparks & Hicks were on and I can't for the life of me think who won in past seasons. During season 8 while channel surfing I caught Adam Lambertt's Satisfaction and thought "wow, I never heard anyone sing like that on American Idol. As a matter of fact I never heard anyone sing like that since Robert Plant. From then on I never missed an episode. I'm back to my old viewing habits now. I hink I've caught about 1 hour altogether of season 9.

Funny you should post this because I just said the same thing at americanidolnet.com. In it I posted concerning last nights "Rolling Stones" performances "Boring, Boring, Boring…I think Adam ruined it for me. But then again I’m a one season viewer (Season 8)"

Totally, absolutely correct!!! I was having a hard time not comparing Adam Lambert to these "losers". No one can compare! I was hoping to hear the vocal ranges and the performances and stage presence, Nada!! Zero! caput! Adam had raised the bar for the next idol. I just cant imagine these 12 people doing a concert. Maybe at the malls!! LOL!!
