Well if she were not fat, she would not have ever gotten the part. So she is exactly what she is suppose to be for right now. Had she lost the weight quickly and drastically, it would have been unhealthy. Lay off of her!! Right now, she is enjoying her success. She can focus on disciplining herself and losing weight later!

Reality is reality and the truth is the truth; which are always so crystal clear as long as the focus is upon someone else. I wish Miss Sidibe good health mentally, spiritually
and physically. I hope that she continues her formal education as well as formal acting education. I hope that she has excellant legal and financial representation to secure her future. It seems that God has put her in the presence of great women who have suceeded not because of; but inspight of. And MOTHER you did alot right; from my vantage point your daughter is someone that any parent would be very proud of.

I have read all of the comments and just thought about something. What man means for harm, God turns into GREATNESS. This man’s statement about Sidibe has created such a stir in people that just maybe he has boosted her career as well as his own. Positive or negative, ratings are ratings! I am not taking away from her talents but his statement of her resulted in that. Being a “big boned” woman myself, I can only imagine how she feels. But the real reality is, she can wallow in self-pity or change it. I am a very confident woman but know for my own health sake, I am losing weight. Most large women knows this; hence the mother’s statement. If it’s not words of encouragement or done in love then keeping it to yourself is the best course. If she is truly happy within herself then: YOU GO GIRL.

Howard you el hombre!! Finally someone tells the truth and he gets slack for being honest. Unfortunately people want life to be sugar coated instead of honest. It is simple
put the fork down, eat less, exercise on a somewhat normal basis and eat some vegetables and this world won't keep getting fatter. Fat people have no excuse. The US is eating too much food, not exercising and eating too much junk. Obese people develop diabetes, serious long term health care issues and plague our overburdened medical system. We absolutely do NOT need to glorify OBESITY. It is sick, vile, unhealthy, wrong for our society and obesity is a modern day killer that will bankrupt this country and society! Even if he is worth $500 mil, he has made a career of being brutally honest.

Everyone keeps saying that if Gabourey wants to be an actress, she needs to lose weight................NEWS FLASH DUMMIES............Gaby never said that she wants to take Hollywood by storm and become an Oscar winning actress. She went to the audition on a whim and was good enough to land the role. If this young lady is happy with the way she looks then so be it! Yes people will talk about her and yes people will support her but the only thing that matters is that she is happy with the way she looks. She is college educated and I'm sure she knows the risks of being morbidly obese. None of us can judge her and assume that she will not get more roles because she does not fit the typical Hollywood stereotype. Maybe that is a good thing!

Excuse my french but what the HELL is wrong with you people? Why do everyone look at heavy set individuals as unhealthy, yes I understand that the more over weight you become the higher risk you are to having a lot of problems. However there are many people who are average size with a lot of health problems. Secondly, what God has for her it is for her. It will not matter about her size to find a job she has already set her standards in "Precious" as to the what kind of actor she is. So Gabourey Sidibe I would like to say to you dont think about what people say about you because they don't have a hell or a heaven to put you in. Remember that you are beautiful and everybody is not meant to be a size 2. Lose weight because that is what you want to do and not because of somebody else.

There is so many comments on her weight and whether or not it played a part in her getting the Oscar. It is up to her to understand her health concerns for carrying the weight. Hollywood and the public seems to be more receptive Women, People of Color, Children, Oversize, Handicap who all have been up for awards in the last few years, so we as a world are heading in the in the right direction. Maybe a little slower than we need to, but in the right direction.
I believe that Gabourey was over looked because she hasn't paid her dues in the industry, not because of her size. She was beyond deserving of the award. Had she been seasoned, she would have been up there and not Sandra Bullock.
Forget about Howard, The Family Guy, It's their job ... remember all press good press.

There is a reason Howard Stern is on the radio. He lookes like one of The Ramones cracked out and tore back uncles. But he still is a funny mofo and if you don't like him or what he has to say, that means he is doing a fine job. As one of the OG "shock jocks" he has built an empire by pissing you off. Check it out: G. Sidibe is probably talented, but she is a big mama! I creative film producer could cast her as Biggie Smalls in some movie about a parallel universe where Notorious B.I.G. is born as a female rapper. The two look like twins: Biggie had man boobs and she looks just like him.

Mr. Stern probably wears diapers now, so lets just disregard him. Gaby is precious! She is a very large young woman whose life depends upon her health in the years to come if not sooner. I think, unfortunately, people are probably telling her what she wants to hear not what she needs to hear. Diabetes, high blood is no joke, and as a whole, it primarily effects african americans. I hope she that she is healthy, I want to keep seeing that beautiful smile.

I listened to Howard Stern and his side kick Ms.Quivers the day they were commenting on Gabourey Sidibide. Although many of their comments could very well be true,I just don't understand the mind set. Making a living out of crushing such an important moment for such a young person.Being so cruel.If they wanted to voice their opinions fine but they are both so crude and hatefull in their manner of expression , I just do not find them entertaining.

We all know Howard Stern isn't exactly tactful or subtle in the things he says. His comments were mean but he creates controversy and that gets ratings. I hate to say it but alot of people agree with Howard Stern on her weight. I'm most disappointed in her mother. At one point in my life I had gained some weight and my father came to me and voiced his worry over that, wanting me to be healthy. Did it sting? Hell yeah it did. But his motives were pure. Her mother is not doing her any favors by lying to her or defending her. This is a young girl who has already put a ticking bomb on her body. I think it's a shame and i'm worried that her talent will end up being passed over because of her weight.

I just finished seeing the movie "Precious". Hollywood need more big people. We need people to represent big and beautiful ladies and men. I am tired of seeing only skinny people on televison and in movies. Everyone in the world can't look alike or look like Howard Stern. Heavy, large, big, fat people need to be loved and respected too.
BTW, Howard you got a lot of nerve to talk bad about someone. I think you are ugly, I think you should get a nose job and the 80's called and said they want their hairdo back. You don't look like someone with money.
Not all people can lose weight easily. It's not always about FOOD!!! Hormones , econmics, environment and emotional problems play has a vital role in a person's health. These are not excuses but facts.

Howard Sterne with his funny looking self need to keep his mop look mouth shut, for i long time i did not know if he was a he or she, if Gabourney is healthy leave her alone and she will get more offers because she is an excellent actress. if she is secure within her self that is all that matters, and the other lady with her fat kid, you need to take care of her and do not worry about Gabourney, she was nominated for an oscar and she is a role model to young people, letting them know that some people look at talent and not foolishness, i am looking for more from Gabourney and pray she has continued success on her journey

You're right Ms. Goldberg no one should put her down. That said you have got to admit that that's not all that there is to be said. In that Ms. Sidibe does display a unique and awesome beauty in her style and talent to not admit that she should address her weight and make sure it is healthy for her size ahd life would also be unfair. Mr. Stern is the true indication that there truly is inbreeding in this country, but there also is an obesity problem that decreases life expectancy and at time the weight can create a less than good life. I applaude Ms. Sidibe but do think that she should make sure that her weight isn't going to be a thorn in her living a healthy and full life. We all know that Howard Stern is a member of the deepest bowels of Hades.

His point was that the girl needs help. Only sickness/death can come from being obese. And hollywood is all about glamour and fashion, so what rolls could she possibly get? Instead of being a phony like Oprah and Whoopi, acting like the girl is just fine, Howard is the only one addressing her well being. What a horrible thing for him to do...lol. He said the #1 cause of preventable death is obesity. Stick to the real issue here people.
