Square Enix, publisher of some of history's most popular and engaging video games, announced yesterday the availability of the latest game in its Final Fantasy franchise: Final Fantasy XIII. The Final Fantasy series, characterized by deep, engrossing story lines, and vividly designed and imagined characters, is perhaps best epitomized in the seventh entry in the series, Final Fantasy VII. The latest version, Final Fantasy XIII, seems poised to recapture that magic. Available for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms, Square Enix's president and CEO John Yamamoto said in a statement: "The series has come a long way since its first release over 20 years ago, and Final Fantasy XIII is proof that our stance in reinventing the series with each installment remains strong to this day." He touted the "innovative battle system, groundbreaking visuals and an intriguing cast of characters," as part of what makes the new game "the ultimate RPG package."
