Doppelganger Week on Facebook Brings Controversy?

Doppelganger: a ghostly counterpart of a living person, says Merriam-Webster.

Doppelganger week on Facebook: an Internet meme where people post pics of their celebrity counterpart (i.e. doppelganger) to their profiles.

While it all seems in good fun, CNET pointed out an interesting wrinkle on Tuesday: that putting a celeb's picture in place as your doppelganger may not be allowed under Facebook's terms of service.

CNET points out the passage in Facebook's terms of service that would make this doppelganger scheme seem out of bounds: "You will not post content or take any action on Facebook that infringes or violates someone else's rights or otherwise violates the law ... We can remove any content or information you post on Facebook if we believe that it violates this Statement."

The number of people actually holding rights or licenses to the images they are using is certainly next to nil.

So while it seemed harmless fun to suddenly be friends with doppelgangers of Adam Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, Peppermint Patty, and Alex Rodriguez, it's actually kind of illegal. Which, truth be told, may make it all the more appealing to some.

Or at least their ghostly counterparts.

Go to http://celebritydoppelganger.blogspot.com/ To which celeb you look like. This is by far the best and fastest generator I've come accross. <3
