"Lost," the ABC show with a cult-like following debuted Tuesday night to a massive audience that will have fans undoubtedly following the show's every predictably unpredictable twist through its final season.
Lost will end its run as mildly popular and critically acclaimed show after its sixth season. Based on a simple premise of plane crash survivors attempting to escape an island somewhere in the South Pacific, the plot features time travel, mystery monsters lurking in the jungle, and random, out-of-sequence scenes that leave the viewer puzzled.
Lost's big two-hour debut, which flashed back to several storylines from the first five seasons, scored 12.1 million viewers on Tuesday night. American Idol was the night's top show, with 24.4 million viewers. Fox's Idol is the No. 1 show on television.
