American Idol's Fantasia Barrino Returns

Feb. 3, 2010

By Joshua Molina, HispanicBusiness.com

American Idol's Fantasia Barrino is looking to rebuild her career after she said her ex-boyfriend ruined her career.

Barrino will appear on "Oprah" today to discuss her rapid rise to superstardom after winning American Idol during its third season. Her rendition of the Porgy and Bess song, "Summertime," still stands out as one of the best performances in the show's history.

Barrino, after winning Idol, fell onto hard times financially, and she quickly fell off the charts. With a new VH1 reality series 'Fantasia For Real,' Barrino is looking to reclaim her superstardom and join the likes of Adam Lambert, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood as Idol crossover successes.

This story is factually WRONG! Fantasia fell on hard times because she chose a house that was too big for her, and then failed to make payments. She also ignored banks and advisors. This isn't far different than her irresponsible behavior in high school. Instead of being disciplined, she got pregnant and had a sense of self entitlement far beyond her capabilities. Later she used this as a sob story to propel her on idol much as Nikki did on season 1 with her baby. Her strained, helium-like voice that was far over rated and she was not winner material. That's why her sales were lack luster. Now, years later, she blames some one else (her bf), as usual. Her voice/ songs didn't sell because they were NOT GOOD ENOUGH PERIOD and don't belong in the same sentence with other winners.
