Sarah Palin and Liberals Agree? They Do On Rahm Emanuel

GOP figurehead Sarah Palin is calling on the White House to fire Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, and, in so doing, inadvertently and ironically coming to the defense of a group of liberal activists to whom he referred as being "f---ing retarded."

Last week, the Wall Street Journal
reported that Emanuel, known for his penchant for backroom profanities, let loose with the politically incorrect rebuke during a meeting with representatives of the liberal groups over the summer.

The next day, prompted by a letter expressing disappointment from Tim Shriver, the CEO of the Special Olympics, Emanuel called Shriver and apologized, according to the Washington Post. Shriver and the Special Olympics have launched a campaign to eradicate the use of the word.

Palin, whose son, Trig, has Down Syndrome, is asking the White House to go further. In a scorching Facebook entry, she wrote that Emanuel should be fired.

"Just as we'd be appalled if any public figure of Rahm's stature ever used the 'N-word' or other such inappropriate language, Rahm's slur on all God's children with cognitive and developmental disabilities -- and the people who love them -- is unacceptable, and it's heartbreaking," Palin wrote.

Meanwhile, the Journal article focused on the growing tension between Emanuel and Obama's more liberal supporters. Some, like Palin, have called for Emanuel's head, though for entirely different reasons.

One of them is Matthew Rothschild, editor of an antiwar magazine called the Progressive, the Journal reported.

Obama, he wrote, "needs a chief of staff with the wisdom to help point him down a bold, progressive path."

Rahm Emmanuel is now a public disgrace to the President who carefully selected him as his MOST trusted advisor. His well known "potty mouth" tendencies reveal a very poor vocabulary but much more serious an ugly devious mind to "back up" his filthy words. President Obama has sufferred many unnecessary failures politically under Rahn's guidance to permit Rahn to stay on as Chief of Staff. He is so close to the President I would speculate that every important step the President has taken to pass his major governmental changes was an idea from or developed by Rahn. The President must change his inner circle of close advisors so smart ideas that help ALL Americans can become law. Emmanuel is daily contributing to the President's difficulties especially with independents and must RESIGN ASAP.

If Rahm had said, "you are acting like the developmentallly challenged, sister Sarah would have chimed in anyhow. She is on the way to inserting herself into our everyday life and doing a good job of it. So money-hungry a person!

I too believe that many democrats act f------retarded when they have the votes, 59 to 41, and act like the republicans are in charge!!! We dems out here are f------tired of their behavior and would like for them to show some cajones. Bout time Obama came out of the corner and boxed the ears of 140 of them at one time. Now if the rest of the retards would show some gumption. The voters are waiting to see if the dems are a bunch of sissies afraid to take on the folks who would like for the neo-cons to take over. The people of the U.S., except for the ones who are 'good germans', would not be very happy with the rabid right conservatives in charge.

I agree that he should step down. His language is not only inappropriate and very hurtful, it demonstrates a lack of judgement and a lack of respect for people with disabilities. After Obama's own unfortunate remark last year about being a 'Special Olympian' at bowling, for which he also apologized, one would think that other members of his administration would have paid attention to their choice of words. An apology to Special Olympics or to Mr. Kennedy is close to meaningless, and it does little to remove the hurt it causes. If he feels real remorse, he can find ways to learn from this situation - somewhere else, not in this position. I would like to see him gone. Sooner, rather than later.
