'Shutter Island' star Leonardo DiCaprio visited Good Morning America today to discuss his fourth and latest venture with heralded director Martin Scorsese.
Leonardo DiCaprio, an actor whose stirring performances have allowed him to catapult from his image from a mere heartthrob into a bona fide, well-respected star, plays a U.S. Marshal in this adaptation of a Dennis Lehane ("Mystic River") novel. The story takes places in the 1950s.
Along with Mark Ruffalo, DiCaprio is charged to investigate ill happenings within an insane asylum on a remote island. Ben Kingsly is the man in charge of the facility.
DiCaprio described the film on GMA as having a mixture of different genres -- "a psychological thriller, gothic horror, 'Hitchcockian' style" of film, but ultimately DiCaprio said that 'Shutter Island' is a character piece about one man coming to terms with his past.
