Rumors that the band Aerosmith is looking to replace legendary frontman Steven Tyler have prompted Tyler -- who is currently in rehab -- to consider suing the band.
The legal tizzy was stoked Friday by celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, who quoted Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry saying the band would like to find a temporary replacement for Tyler while he recovers not only from his addiction to pain killers, but also from a frightening plunge off the stage in August.
Rumored potential replacements include Billy Idol, Chris Cornell, Paul Rodgers and Lenny Kravitz.
Last week, Tyler's attorney, Skip Miller, sent a strongly worded letter to band manager Howard Kaufman.
"We reserve all of our legal rights and remedies in this matter, including, without limitation, pursuing legal action for damages and other appropriate relief," the letter says, according to Billboard.com.
Speaking with Billboard, Miller added,
"Steven is Aerosmith, along with the others. He's the guy the public knows. He's the singer. I'm blown away that the current manager would even suggest something like (replacing him)."
