Floyd Mayweather, Jr.'s rap sheet is getting longer. In the wake of charges he beat his wife, the boxing star has been charged with assaulting a security guard for issuing him a parking ticket.
Mr. Mayweather is accused of striking the security officer several times in the face after he confronted him outside his home on the evening of Nov. 15. Responding officers filed an assault complaint against him.
The guard told police the confrontation arose from a dispute Mr. Mayweather had with his home owner's association regarding where he was allowed to park in the gated community where he resides in Las Vegas.
The incident occurred roughly a week after Mr. Mayweather was issued a restraining ordered to stay away from his wife and children. The order was granted after the court learned Mr. Mayweather threatened to kill both is wife and her 10-year-old son.
Mr. Mayweather is also expected in court in Jan. 2011, on charges of larceny and robbery for an earlier arrest.
Mr. Mayweather is regarded by many boxing fans as the greatest fighter ever, with world titles in five weight categories. He is thought to be the only fighter capable of challenging Manny Pacquiao, the Filipino world champ in eight categories.
Boxing enthusiasts have long clamored for a matchup between Mr. Mayweather and Mr. Pacquiao.
In light of of Mr. Mayweather's legal problems, and possible upcoming jail time, a matchup in the near future seems highly unlikely.
