In an article published online Tuesday, The Nation magazine alleges former CNN anchor Lou Dobbs used undocumented workers for upkeep on his properties.
The article, by Isabel Macdonald with the headline 'Lou Dobbs, American Hypocrite,' alleges that Dobbs employed at least five undocumented over the years on his multimillion properties and the horses he keeps for his 22-year-old daughter.
The allegation comes after a year-long investigation that was funded by the Investigative Fund at The Nation Institute. Macdonald interviewed the five undocumented workers, but gave them fictitious names.
She wrote: 'Fearing deportation or job loss, Salinas, like other workers interviewed for this story, asked that neither his real name nor the name of his employer be used.'
Dobbs has been noted for his campaign not only against undocumented workers, but those how hire them.
The Nation article noted: 'But Dobbs reserved a special venom for the employers who hire them, railing against 'the employer who is so shamelessly exploiting the illegal alien and so shamelessly flouting U.S. law.'
The New York Daily News reported Thursday morning that Dobbs 'did not comment for the story. Through his laywers, Dobbs said he'd only respond to questions asked on his radio show.'
Since leaving CNN, Dobbs has hosted the syndicated radio show, 'Lou Dobbs Radio.
