Drug Testing Kills Pacquiao-Mayweather Match, pacman

The UFC can relax. The fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is off.

The two sides were unable to reach an agreement over drug testing.

According to ESPN.com, Mayweather had demanded that both fighters be subjected to random blood drug tests before the fight. Pacquiao refused, which sunk the fight. The Nevada State Athletic Commission only requires random urine samples.

Pacquiao has said that he does not want blood taken within 24 days of the fight because it could weaken him.

The fighter, who ended the career of Oscar de la Hoya, has also filed a defamation lawsuit against Mayweather and his handlers over allegations that Pacquiao allegedly used performance-enhancement drugs, which is why he opposed the blood drug testing.

Pacquiao has never failed a drug test under the current Nevada rules.

The fight was scheduled for March and was expected to be the biggest pay per view fight in the history of boxing, easily topping the popular UFC's fare, possibly generating $250 million.

It seems that the writer is one of those paranoid boxing fans...afraid of the boogie man (the UFC). I'm pretty sure the UFC wasn't worried about the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. I'm not suprised that the fight is off. This is the problem with boxing and why fans like myself have lost enthusiasm for the sport.
