Former First Lady Hillary Clinton had health care reform and First Lady Michelle Obama now has childhood obesity.
Obama, at Wednesday's U.S. Conference of Mayors, said she will launch a major effort next month to stop childhood obesity, which has become a national epidemic.
Obama's statement quickly became the buzz of the conference among the mayors who attended. She spoke to hundreds of mayors at the event in Washington D.C.
"Just left meeting with First Lady Michelle Obama on childhood obesity-- big issue/big deal to have her leadership," San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom twittered, shortly after the event.

It's so ironic to me that while we are concentrating on obese children losing weight, here in Iowa thanks to Chet Culver, they are cutting our P.E. classes!! For most of the obese children the P.E. they get in school is most likely the only excercise they get. It seems horrific to show concern over a growing obesity problem with our children only to allow a one time governor to rob those same children of the activity they desperately need. It would seem to me that he could do budget cuts in other places than our schools, starting with himself. He is over payed as well as over wieght. Along with our P.E. we are also losing Music and Art yet keeping Spanish. Heaven forbid the spanish speaking population would have to learn english.

Not sure if I agree with this one, but it sure seems like the Obamas have got a lot to prove if they are to improve the lives of millions of American kids. I am a parent and regularly keep up to date with kids websites such as http://www.DozenKids.com. But I also found out some great info on this kids websites blog post and how kids were writing letters of advice to Obama. Very interesting. Who said kids should be seen and not heard? I say, let's put them in Government, they'll surely do a better a job.
