The first time the National Enquirer published a piece on the sexual misadventures of presidential candidate John Edwards, the mainstream media ignored the story.
It turned out to be a biggie: Edwards, as the Enquirer reported, had indeed had an ill-advised affair with a woman who'd attached herself to the campaign under the guise of making a documentary.
And it was the Enquirer that broke the story alleging that the mistress, Rielle Hunter, gave birth to a baby that was his.
Now, the Enquirer is hounding Edwards again with another tawdry tale: Edwards, the tabloid says, went on a booze-filled sex romp at his vacation home on Figure Eight Island near Wilmington, N.C.
