iPhone MMS Available Now

Sept. 25, 2009

At long last, iPhone users -- as of today -- will be able to send photos, music and videos via text to another phone number.

Some tech watchers anticipated that the new capability -- which was already available on the phones of some competitors -- would clog the AT&T network with a glut of users testing out the new feature.

But PC World speculated that the concern might be overblown, given how the feature hasn't gone gangbusters at other phones.

Updating the feature requires visiting iTunes, and users should restart their phones after making the download, according to CNET.

In June, Apple fans were disappointed when the company indicated that although the iPhone 3.0 would come with so-called Multimedia Messaging Service, the AT&T network might not have the ability to support it.

But AT&T went to work on its network, and after a few delays, the service became available.
