Juan Manuel Marquez and Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr., will collide Saturday night in one of boxing's most anticipated battles of the year. The clash happens the same night as UFC 103.
Mayweather is returning to the ring after a near-two-year-long absence. Once considered boxing's pound-for-pound best, Mayweather came out of retirement in hopes of landing a mega-fight with Manny Pacquiao, who convincingly beat Oscar de la Hoya late last year.
Marquez, from Mexico, is also considered one of the sport's best boxers.
Mayweather will be accompanied to the ring Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas by WWE wrestler Paul "Triple H" Levesque. Mayweather built a huge wrestling fan audience after he appeared at last year's WresleMania.
Boxing promoters have high hopes for the pay-per-view buy rate for the show. With the UFC gaining in popularity, and routinely outdrawing both boxing and wrestling on pay-per-view, boxing is struggling to stay competitive with the mixed martial arts sport.
Making matters worse for the sport of boxing, the UFC is staging a pay-per-view event from Dallas the same night, a move that will force fight fans on a budget to choose.
