Top 20 Hispanic-Owned Companies in Florida

The Hispanic Business 500 has served as a barometer of the U.S. Hispanic economy for more than 25 years. We believe that applying our criteria on a statewide level can yield interesting results for our readers. Here, we take a closer look at the HB 500 companies in Florida.

The Top 20 Florida companies in the 2009 Hispanic Business 500 Ranking produced revenues of $9.85 billion in 2008, down from $10.26 billion in 2007. They employed 16,802 people, also down from the 19,380 people employed in 2007.

The list is once again headed by Brightstar Corp., with 2008 revenues of $3.57 billion. Brightstar, managed by CEO R. Marcelo Claure, has been the number one company on the HB500 for three years in a row. Liberty Power Corp., number eight in Florida and #21 overall, was the Florida company with the largest growth in sales, showing a 56.6% increase in revenue from 2008, up from $193.4 million to $302.9 million.
