CocoPerez.com: Perez Hilton's New Web Site

Aug. 13, 2009

CocoPerez.com, Perez Hilton's New Web Site

In case a single Web site brought to you by Perez Hilton isn't enough, the self-proclaimed Queen of All Media has launched a second one.

If the famous celebrity blog PerezHilton.com is made up of two-parts snark and one-part fashion, then the new CocoPerez.com is the other way around.

The new site, which launched this week, focuses on fashion, and is sponsored by The Gap. In some ways, its entries bear a strong resemblance to the main attributes of the original site -- emphasizing close-up shots of celebrities accompanied by glib snippets written in the unique voice of you-know-who.

Under one photo-montage featuring a languid Kate Moss hanging with a hipper-than-thou male companion, Hilton refers to Moss as "past her prime" but nonetheless grants that she looks "super seks!" and "hawt!"

But conspicuously absent from the new site are the silly doodles that have come to characterize the Perez Hilton brand. And the language, despite the cutesy spellings of certain words, has a more subdued, even sanitized quality: thus far, the new site -- unlike the original -- includes nary a cuss word.

Earlier this week, Hilton told the Washington Post's Express Night Out that the new site will feature a sneak preview of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition photo shoot, as well as a model's fashion tribute to Michael Jackson.

Hilton told ENO that the site will appeal to "women and gays, maybe straight men. But it should definitely keep the ladies happy."
