Does sipping hundreds of wines, exploring vineyards, chatting in tasting rooms and then tweeting about these adventures sound like your cup of tea er, glass of Chardonnay?
If so, David Ready Jr. has a "Really Goode Job" for you. The Sonoma County, Calif., winemaker from Murphy-Goode winery is looking for an "imaginative and inquisitive" employee who is an excellent communicator to create a buzz (presumably both figuratively and literally) about his alcoholic products. The position's title: "Murphy-Goode Wine Country Lifestyle Correspondent."
As if unlimited access to nectar of the gods wasn't enough, Murphy-Goode will put you up in a deluxe private home in the heart of the Wine Country, pay you $10,000 a month for six months, and provide computer, Internet, PDA and digital and still camera access. You won't get medical or other benefits, but you will get travel insurance during the contract period.
The temporary full-time employee will spread the "Goode word" about the Healdsburg winery via social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter; video-sharing sites such as YouTube; and blogs.
You can apply online at the site. The most important part of the application process, according to Ready, is submitting a video of 60 seconds or less. The site says the video should show why you are the best person for the job. "It should be entertaining. We are looking for a video that demonstrates your storytelling, personal presentation, video production skills, creative content, enthusiasm, knowledge of Murphy-Goode wines and the Sonoma County Wine Country."
More than 700 videos have been posted since the competition began in late April. The deadline to apply is June 19. The top 50 candidates will be announced June 26, and they'll be narrowed down to 10 by July 7. Final interviews will be held July 14-18 and the winner will be announced on July 21. The "job" starts Aug. 15.
You can stay in touch with Murphy-Goode winery via blog, Twitter (twitter.com/areallygoodjob) or Facebook (Search for Murphy Goode Winery).
