The Los Angeles Times' Web site, latimes.com, is among those reporting that Manny Ramirez has been suspended by Major League Baseball for 50 games after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
According to Sports Illustrated, Ramirez may have been taking the substance for medical purposes and, while still a banned performance enhancer, may not have been a steroid.
If the suspension is not mitigated or changed in any way, the unpaid time off will cost Ramirez $7.7 million, according to the LA Times.
