Shanna Moakler, a former reality TV star and model, resigned her position as pageant director for Miss California USA on May 12 -- just one day after Carrie Prejean was told by Miss USA owner Donald Trump that she could keep her crown.
Moakler, a former Miss New York USA and Miss USA crown-winner herself, did not explicitly state that she was calling it quits due to Prejean's anti-gay sentiments. Moakler instead told Us Weekly that she was quitting to focus more on her children -- the ex-pageant director previously appeared in an anti-Prop 8 print ad on April 28, 2009. Following the press conference, Moakler stated that she would be working with gay marriage campaigners in the coming months while Prejean announced that she is teaming up with the National Organization for Marriage to campaign against same-sex unions.
