KFC will be giving away one free piece of chicken per customer today on Monday, April 27 in order to promote its new grilled chicken. The fast food giant is hoping that the introduction of a new and healthier menu item will eliminate the unhealthy stigma that is usually associated with fried chicken.
This is the fourth time KFC has offered grilled chicken on its menu but the induction has yet to be successful. The eatery is hoping that freebies will entice otherwise uninterested customers. Denny's and IHOP have both had profitable food giveaways earlier in the year, with neither suffering profit losses. The cut of chicken handed out will vary at each participating store, but the offer will remain valid throughout the entire day, no coupon needed.
KFC's parent company is Louisville, Ky.-based Yum Brands (NYSE: YUM). Along with KFC, holdings include Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and Long John Silver's. Yum Brands has more than 36,000 restaurants in more than 110 countries and territories.
