Cuban-American pop star Gloria Estefan announced her retirement this week, saying she wants to devote more time to her business interests and family after a final Latin American tour.
The 52-year-old singer, whose streak of hits began in the 1980s with songs such as "Rhythm is Gonna Get You" with the Miami Sound Machine, has won seven Grammy Awards.
Estefan's Latin-American tour begins in Uruguay on April 9, and ends in Ecuador on April 23.
She owns eight Miami-area restaurants and two hotels with her husband, former Miami Sound Machine bandleader Emilio Estefan.
The couple is said to be worth $500 million, according to a 2007 article in People En Espanol magazine. They have a 28-year-old son and a 14-year-old daughter.
