Lou Dobbs, Dobbs Apology, USHCC apology, hispanic chamber

CNN talk show host Lou Dobbs apologized this week to the U.S Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for comments he made linking the chamber to illegal human drug trafficking. Last week, Dobbs lambasted President Obama for picking the chamber as the venue to deliver his March 10 address on education reform, saying the chamber "is effectively an organization that is interested in the export of American capital and production to Mexico and Mexico's export of drugs and illegal aliens to the United States. This is crazy stuff." On Tuesday, in response to the chamber's demand for a retraction, Dobbs said he was sorry. But he also reiterated his belief that an open border policy -- which Dobbs said the chamber supports -- would exacerbate the problems he had alluded to. "While I believe any open borders policy does facilitate not only illegal immigration, but also the trafficking of massive amounts of illicit drugs, I of course do not believe that the chamber supports or condones either drug or human trafficking. My apologies to the ... U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and I hope that they will forgive me for that misspeaking."
