The American radio and Fox News TV host Glenn Beck on Friday released what he is calling the "9-12 Project," (Web site: the912project.com), a populist effort to mobilize viewers that is apparently so popular its Web site has been down for hours.
Beck says the 9-12 Project "is designed to bring us all back to the place we were on Sept. 12, 2001," when America was "not obsessed with red states, blue states or political parties."
The project consists of nine "principles" and 12 "values." The top two principles: "America is Good" and "I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life." Others include statements about the values of honesty, family, the law and the "right to life."
His show opened up with this statement: "We can choose to be the Americans of Sept. 10, with our heads buried in the sand. We could be the Americans of Sept. 11, who are unprepared, then paralyzed by fear, despair or anger. Or we could choose to renew the promise we all made to ourselves by the end of this hour."
