Denny's, which bills itself as the largest full-service family restaurant chain in the United States, first opened its doors in 1953. Super Bowl Sunday was another milestone: the company paid outrageous rates to advertise for the first time during the cherished, hoopla-laden sports event. The message was one particularly appealing in these tough economic times: free food.
From 6.m. until 2 p.m. today, Denny's locations nationwide are offering a free Grand Slam breakfast, limit one per customer, to customers. Only three locations nationwide (350 Baker Blvd., Baker, CA, 740 S. Main St., Las Cruces, NM. and 1128 W Thirteenth St., Merced, CA.) are not participating, according to Denny's Web site. It will help if you already know where the closest Denny's location is, rather than relying on the company's online restaurant locator -- as of press time, the company's Web site has been experiencing intermittent outages, undoubtedly due to the popularity of this offer.
The Denny's Grand Slam has two eggs, two links of sausage, two slices of bacon and two pancakes.
