Adam Lambert Tells ABC, Critics 'Whataya Want From Me?'

Dec. 5, 2009

Adam Lambert, American Idol, ABC, Want

American Idol's Adam Lambert is busy this week remaking his public image after ABC canceled two more of his schedule appearances on the Disney-owned network.

Lambert stole the show on ABC's American Music Awards two weeks ago, but his brief same-sex kiss offended network executives, who dropped him from Good Morning, America and now, Jimmel Kimmel Live and Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve!

Lambert has followed up his controversial performance with several performances on other networks, however, singing "Whataya Want From Me," his upcoming single, an ironically poignant ditty, considering the controversy, that most resembles his song tastes during his incredible spring American Idol run.

And yet...ABC did nothing when two dancers on "So You Think You Can Dance" simulated oral sex on the show on Oct. 26, 2009. During the “Group Mambo” round, Derek Hough forcibly and repeatedly thrust his partner Joanna Krupa’s head into his crotch. This was during PRIMETIME. ABC did not blur them nor ban them.

Although ABC cancelled Adam Lambert's two 'live' musical performances -one of which had not been finalized anyway, ABC still has him scheduled for two other shows. The Barbara Walters Special and The View. They are okayed. No news about any 'taped; musical performances being cancelled if ever. The AMA performance was at 10:55pm EST and PST -the FCC 'safe harbor' is 10pm -6am. -since the FCC states it is a reasonable risk that children will not be in the audience after 10pm, Adam's performance was okay- but then- it became known that in the Central Time Zone, his performance aired at 9:55pm, and failed to meet the FCC guidelines. due to time zone. ABC decided to take the caution of cancelling his 'live' peformances while they work things out. Too bad, we all lose, no kidding.
