Adam Lambert's AMA Performance Sparks Change at Disney

Nov. 30, 2009

American Idol Adam Lambert's iconic television-changing performance at the American Music Awards is forcing ABC to review is policy on preparing for live broadcasts, the network's parent company said on Monday.

Lambert's shocking and daring display of public affection with a male band member while performing his new single "For Your Entertainment," sparked a television upheaval. Lambert said it was an impulsive and spontaneous moment, but defended his actions, saying it was not that different from the infamous Madonna/Britney Spears kiss from the MTV music awards several years ago.

ABC dropped Lambert's scheduled live concert on Good Morning America two days after the AMA flap, but CBS quickly swooped in, devoting most of its two-hour morning show to Lambert's music and the controversy.

According to Reuters, Disney/ABC Television Group President Anne Sweeney said the company would now review the steps it takes to vet live performances by getting assurances from artists that their performances will resemble rehearsals.

Lambert's album was released the day after his performance and he debuted at No. 2 on the charts, selling 230,00 copies.

Best way for what? If God thinks in that way, probably the human race would be sexless. Violence, discrimination, hate, lies and double moral are worse than a guy kissing another guy. There seven sins, and just one is about sex. Please revalue your values.

I did not see the performance, but I heard about it. I truly do respect abc for reevaluating there future rehearsed performances. I dont think a persons choice of sex should be brought to everyones attention. I am a true Christian, and I would not of liked seeing such performances. I think there need to be more of what you all did, even in your television programs, we need to go back to some of what we use to do everything being about sex just dont cut it for alot of people. We try and teach our children that abstanance is the best way, but every show promotes SEX.....
