What is a 'Twilf'? A short explanation.
A cartoon on Al Gore's Current TV has conservative fans of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin all "a-twitter."
The cartoon, titled "The Stupid Virus," mocks on the media's obsession with the "Birther" movement -- the people who believe that President Barack Obama is not an American-born citizen and, thus, not entitled to hold the office of president.
During the cartoon, a character of Palin "tweets" through a Twitter account under the satirical handle of "Gun Ho." Later in the segment, the cartoon Palin's mug shot is referenced during a news broadcast, with the caption "Twilf."
"Twilf" appears to be a riff on another lewd title given to Palin after winning her bid for the Alaskan Governorship, "gilf," by political blog Wonkette. Both terms are a play on the term "milf," which is an acronym for "mom I'd like to [expletive]." In Gilf, it's "governor," in Twilf, evidently, it's "Twitterer . . ."
Palin's supporters are up in arms over both the "Gun Ho" and "Twilf" references, but are ironically bringing loads of traffic to the controversial Current TV, which previously was best known for members of its news staff getting captured by North Korea and continual mass layoffs.
