Amid speculation that Shane McMahon is leaving the WWE, to pursue a career in mixed martial arts promotions, the WWE returns tonight with Monday Night Raw and special guest host Snoop Doggy Dogg.
McMahon tendered his resignation last week, shocking the wrestling world. McMahon serves as executive vice president of WWE Global Media, and has been instrumental in turning WWE.com into one of the visited sites in the country.
McMahon's father Vincent Kennedy McMahon turned professional wrestling into a billion-dollar industry publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
"It is with great sadness that I announce my resignation from the WWE, effective January 1, 2010," McMahon said in a statement. "I have never even considered a future outside the walls of the WWE. However, sometimes life takes an unexpected turn and while it is the most difficult decision I have ever made, it is time for me to move on."
It is unclear whether the WWE will mention McMahon's departure on air tonight. With his theme song of "Here Comes The Money," McMahon has been one of the most popular performers in the WWE for more than a decade.
McMahon's mother, Linda McMahon, also recently announced her departure from the WWE. She running for U.S. Senate in Connecticut.
