Balloon boy's family could be arrested as early as Wednesday. The parents of the 6-year-old boy are under investigation for allegedly masterminding a hoax that captured the nation's attention.
Gawker.com first reported the sordid details of how Richard Heene allegedly worked up the plan for launching a UFO in hopes of being offered a reality show.
In the interview, 25-year-old Robert Thomas said he and Heene came up with a plan, but had no idea that Heene would attempt such a stunt involving his 6-year-old son Falcone
Last Thursday, the nation watched as reports surfaced that Heene's 6-year-old son was aboard a homemade UFO drifting in the Colorado skies.
The National Guard sent helicopters to capture the balloon. When crews finally retrieved the balloon, the 6-year-old was not on it, leaving many to conclude that he had fallen out of the balloon while it was high in the air. It turns out that Falcon was never on the balloon and he was hiding in the attic.
In an awkward interview on CNN, the boy said he hid in the attic because "we did it for the show."
Authorities allege that Heene, who had appeared on ABC's Wife Swap, came up with the stunt in hopes of landing a television reality show.
