NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is opposed to talk-show host Rush Limbaugh's bid to purchase the St. Louis Rams, saying Limbaugh's "divisive comments" would not be welcome in the league.
Goodell said he was particularly disappointed by Limbaugh's comment in 2003 that the media wanted quarterback Donovan McNabb to succeed because he's black.
"It's a polarizing comment that we don't think reflect accurately on the NFL or our players," he said, according to USA Today.
Also opposed to the idea is Colts owner Jim Irsay.
"I think as a nation we need to stop it," he told NBC Sports. "Our words do damage and it's something that we don't need."
NFL owners must vote to approve new owners of teams, and Irsay said he'd vote against it.
