Students describe this medical school as collegial with a "family feeling". UT Houston boasts a high quality education in a very supportive environment. Underrepresented minorities comprise over 20% of the incoming classes, 17% of which are Hispanic students. The NNLAMS chapter here is very active and numerous other programs enhance the diversity mission of the school, including community outreach to high school and college students, for example, The Houston Hispanic Forum, which reaches ten thousand young people in the area.
