'So You Think You Can Dance', 'Al Diablo' Draw Hispanic Viewers

Even without its powerhouse hit program AMERICAN IDOL, the Fox network continued to dominate the top 10 most-watched programs among Hispanic viewers for the week of May 26-June 1.

With both AMERICAN IDOL and DANCING WITH THE STARS gone, audiences across America tuned into Fox's SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. In the second week of its new season, the talent competition and reality show powered to the top of the list, grabbing 787,000 Hispanic viewers to earn a rating of 4.2 for its Thursday night broadcast, according to numbers released by the Nielsen Media Group.

When Hispanic fans weren't marveling over the gymnastic feats and grace of their favorite aspiring dancers, they were cheering the acrobatics and slams of their preferred wrestlers in WWE FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN, which claimed the number two spot. Perennial favorite SMACKDOWN was joined by newcomer ELITE EXTREME COMBAT, which premiered on Saturday night and quickly earned the fourth spot in the line-up of most-watched English-language shows. EXTREME COMBAT's debut marked the first time a "mixed martial arts" event was telecast live in prime time on network television, and featured YouTube-popularized, backyard brawling sensation Kimbo Slice.

LOST in its final episode also went out with a bang, claiming the seventh spot and an audience of 561,000 Hispanic viewers.

Among Spanish-language broadcasts, AL DIABLO CON GUAPOS (TO HECK WITH THE BEAUTIFUL) continues to maintain its top position, attracting over 4 million viewers. The soap opens features family intrigue, love, and betrayal. The protagonist Mili (Alisson Lozz) has had a life filled with hard knocks. She discovered that her boss was her father, that the man she deeply loved was her bother, her beloved grandmother dies, and she cannot trust any of the people who brought her into this world. This virtuous, beautiful heroine is truly entrapped in a world of devils.

The program is scheduled to come to its conclusion this Friday, June 6, and fans are furiously debating whether Alejandro will, in the end, remain with Mili.

The following lists are TV ratings based on Hispanic viewership. Nielsen's ratings include viewers who watched the program while it aired and those who viewed the shows via digital video recorder within 24 hours of their airing. Nielsen says that the Hispanic TV audience represents more than 11.63 million television households in the United States. The rating is the percentage of households watching a TV program out of the potential audience of 11.63 million households.
