The Robert Toigo Foundation, an organization supporting the advancement of minority MBA students and graduates, recently launched ToigoTalksTM, a national campaign committed to educating young minorities about financial careers.
Based in Oakland, Calif., the campaign is an extension of the Toigo Foundation's nearly 20-year effort to inspire and support young minority professionals as they earn their MBAs and pursue careers in finance.
"For too long, a career in finance has remained out of reach for many minorities," said Toigo president, Nancy Sims. "The Toigo Foundation's mission is to change that by educating today's youth and young professionals about the incredible range of career possibilities that exist within the field."
One of the core components of ToigoTalksTM is reaching students and young professionals online.
"With the launch of the Ready-For-Finance Web site, coupled with our on-campus workshops and networking events for young professionals, we hope to reach thousands of young minorities who might not otherwise have considered finance as a viable career path," said Ms. Sims.
The new Ready-For-Finance site features a job bank, career coaches, which provide advice for undergraduates and young professionals; career map, which helps identify potential career paths based on the student or young professional's personality strengths; and resources, which include tips on resume writing, interviewing, salary negotiation, finance industry careers, the MBA application process, and grants.
The Toigo network of minority professionals includes MBA graduates, mentors, and sponsor firms at all levels of leadership within the finance industry.
