Washington, DC--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--June 13, 2005--The Hispanic Council on International Relations (HCIR) will present the 2005 International Leadership Awards to Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and Congressman Robert Menendez (D-NJ). Senator McCain and Congressman Menendez will receive the awards at HCIR’s 9th Annual Leadership Dinner on Tuesday, June 14 at 6:30 pm at the Organization of American States (OAS) located at 17th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW.
The International Leadership Award recognizes the achievements of an American or international leader who has contributed to developing better international policy, particularly in the Western Hemisphere, and increasing U.S. Hispanic participation in foreign affairs. The awards dinner is an opportunity for the Hispanic Leadership to honor individuals who advance the Hispanic voice in foreign affairs. Over 200 Hispanic leaders, elected officials and ambassadors from the international community will attend.
“Senator McCain and Congressman Menendez are being honored because of their steadfast principled leadership in the cause of hemisphere integration and cooperation as well as their long-standing interest in Hispanic American affairs.” said Ambassador Luis Lauredo, HCIR Chair. “In addition, we will announce the creation of two initiatives – The HCIR Leadership Training Institute and The HCIR Foreign Policy Program Series.”
The Hispanic Council on International Relations (HCIR) was established to build a more global-thinking U.S. citizenry. HCIR is dedicated to fostering greater awareness of global affairs, encouraging and promoting Hispanic American participation in International Relations, and heightening the Hispanic voice in foreign policy formulation and implementation.
