As the U.S. Hispanic population continues to surge, growth has expanded beyond metropolitan cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, and Miami and into surrounding counties.

A review of counties with the largest percentage increase in Hispanic populations from 2000 to 2003 shows Middlesex County, Massachusetts the state's largest county, which includes the Boston area recorded the largest percentage increase in Hispanic population up 67 percent. The New York state counties of Suffolk and Nassau saw the next-highest increases of 46 percent and 43 percent, respectively.
