Growing affluence has opened opportunities for Hispanics to participate in public policy affecting the financial industry and play pivotal roles in the continued expansion of the Hispanic economy.
The participation holds clear ramifications for ensuring future market gains. As the New America Alliance noted in an October 2003 study on Hispanics in the financial services industry, elected and appointed officials "play a key role in developing standards [in the financial services industry] for accountability to ensure adequate Latino participation."
