Robert Aguallo
Executive Director, L.A. City Employee Retirement System
Mr. Aguallo is responsible for management of the fund's trust assets of $7.8 billion, and administration of benefits on behalf of 40,000 members. Formerly, Mr. Aguallo was the assistant executive officer, serving as the chief operating officer for Investment Operations of the California Public Employees' Retirement System for eight years. Prior to that, he served for six years as CalPERS' assistant executive officer, Financial and Administrative Services.
Ralph Alvarez
Chief Operations Officer, McDonald's USA
Before his recent promotion, Mr. Alvarez was president, Central Division, for McDonald's USA, responsible for nearly 4,300 restaurants in the central United States. Mr. Alvarez has also served as president of McDonald's Mexico and prior to that was regional director for Chipotle Mexican Grill, one of McDonald's partner brands. Mr. Alvarez joined McDonald's in 1994 after a career in the quick-service restaurant industry that included work for Burger King Corp. and Wendy's International Inc.
Ruben Cardona
Certified Public Accountant, Shareholder,
Withum, Smith & Brown P.C.
Mr. Cardona, a shareholder based in the firm's New Brunswick, N.J., office, is a licensed certified public accountant in the states of New Jersey and New York, specializing in real estate, nonprofit, and HUD-assisted projects. His background includes significant administrative and finance experience in the private and public sectors, and he is a former assistance finance administrator for management and administrative services for the City of New York.
Adolfo Carrion Jr.
President, Bronx Borough
Mr. Carrion was elected to the borough presidency in November 2001. During his term, Mr. Carrion has increased the borough's economic well being: According to recent statistics from the state Department of Labor, the Bronx is showing the strongest economic growth and consistency among the city's five boroughs. From 2000 to 2002, private-sector wages there increased by more than 8 percent.
Carmen Castillo
President and Chief Executive Officer, Superior Design International
Ms. Castillo is the founder and sole owner of Superior Design International, with more than a decade of experience in the staffing industry. As CEO, Ms. Castillo is responsible for the overall coordination of company operations, global advertising and marketing programs along with proposal strategies and preparation. She evaluates new markets for SDI's service offerings and monitors compliance with contract administration and corporate agreements.
Ray Durazo
President, Durazo Communications
Chairman, Latin Business Association
Mr. Durazo is a 25-year veteran of the advertising and public relations profession, and a nationally recognized authority on Hispanic marketing. He founded Durazo Communications in June of 1991, and is chairman of the Latin Business Association, receiving the LBA Member of the Year Award in 1996. Current and recent clients of Durazo Communications include Honda automobiles, Verizon, the U.S. Treasury Department, Merrill-Lynch, and Bank of America.
Fernando Espuelas
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The VOY Group
Fernando Espuelas is chairman and CEO of VOY LLC, a media company focused on building a cultural bridge between Latinos and the mainstream through platforms including cable, music, film, publishing, and the Internet. Mr. Espuelas has received wide recognition, including a Time magazine honor as one of the "Leaders of the Millennium."
Jim Estrada
President, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner, Estrada Communications Group Inc.
Mr. Estrada is a pioneer in ethnic marketing, with over 30 years of marketing and public relations experience. In 1992, after an illustrious corporate career, he founded Estrada Communications Group specialists in corporate and integrated marketing communications. With sons Raymond and Ron, the agency has more than 50 years of marketing experience and has offices in Austin, Texas, and Los Angeles, California.
