NEW YORK, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta Air Lines dances the "merengue" as it launches new service today from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
To celebrate its first entry into the Caribbean nation, Delta is offering double miles to SkyMiles customers who purchase and fly qualifying segments on Delta-operated flights from JFK to Santo Domingo between June 1 and Aug. 31, 2004.
Delta will operate two nonstop flights daily between JFK and Santo Domingo using Boeing 757-200 aircraft, with the capacity to carry up to 183 passengers in a two-class configuration.

Delta also is offering double miles to SkyMiles customers who fly qualifying segments on its twice-daily new service from JFK to San Juan, Puerto Rico that began in April. The bonus miles promotion runs June 1 through Aug. 31, 2004.
For the first time, Delta has launched a United States -- Hispanic advertising campaign supporting the new Latin American and Caribbean service from its JFK hub. The print, radio, and out-of-home advertising focuses on the overarching idea of the duality of "home" and what each home -- whether New York City, San Juan or Santo Domingo -- has to offer Delta customers. Creative concepts include, "We take you from 'hip hop' to 'merengue' twice a day," and "We take you from 'home' to 'casa' twice a day." Print ads will appear in the U.S. versions of Dominican Times and La Prensa. Miami-based diego + heymann + partners is Delta's advertising agency for Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market.
