Telemundo news director Zoltan Csanyi-Salcedo said the information is timely and useful.
"We look at this venture as another example of Telemundo 39's efforts to be the station that Hispanics in the Metroplex turn to for information they need," Csanyi-Salcedo said. "I'd like to commend the Arlington Police Department for being so proactive in this project."
Sgt. Andy Garcia, who supervises the Police Department's Crime Prevention Unit, writes and co-directs the segments. Sgt. Garcia is a 17-year police veteran and also has previous broadcast experience.
"As a Mexican immigrant, I understand that cultural struggles are magnified when there is a language barrier," Sgt. Garcia said. "But with knowledge and education, we can better our society and make our communities safer."
All the segments are being filmed locally with the cooperation of area businesses, Arlington residents, and Arlington police employees.
