The McCombs School of Business MBA program encourages student organizations such as the Hispanic Graduate Business Association (HGBA) and the Consortium Fellows Business Association to flourish. In addition to being one of the 14 schools in the Consortium for Graduate Studies in Management, the school annually sponsors and participates in the conference for the National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA). Hispanic students account for almost 15 percent of each incoming MBA class, and McCombs provides these students with an extensive support network to address both academic and professional needs. Student organizations, along with project teams and the cohort system, contribute to an atmosphere of cooperation, not competition.

"Stanford's dedication to diversity has resulted in a notable increase in Latino representation at the Graduate School of Business," says MBA student Alejandro Guerrero, class of 2002. "Its combination of strong academics and career development are unmatched. Yet what makes Stanford special for Latinos is the level of support they receive from both the administration and peers, and the school-wide commitment to community service." That support begins with the application process and includes information sessions around the country for underrepresented audiences, mentoring for current and former Hispanic students upon request, and Stanford representation at such events as the National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA) and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers annual conferences.
