NEW YORK (PRNewswire) -- "She said, I want to be a superstar. I want to be as big as they come. And she said she was going to do whatever it takes to get there," recalls "Selena" co-star Jon Seda about actor, singer, dancer and entrepreneur Jennifer Lopez.

Lopez recently sat down with Lifetime Television to chat about her roots and road to superstardom for the upcoming premiere of "Intimate Portrait: Jennifer Lopez" on December 9, 7-8 p.m. ET/PT.

Rising from a lower middle class Puerto Rican family in the Bronx to the first female artist to have a #1 movie ("The Wedding Planner") and #1 album ("J.Lo") in the same week in January 2001, Lopez talks with Lifetime about comparisons between her upcoming role in "Maid in Manhattan" and her own life.

"This character, being from the Bronx and being Puerto Rican and being a minority, I know what that is. ... And I know what's it like to be somebody who is working nine to five and getting on a train everyday and, and who wants more, aspires for more," said Lopez.

Since first landing as a Fly Girl in "In Living Color," Lopez has worked with such leading men and heart throbs as Woody Harrelson, Wesley Snipes, Jack Nicholson, George Clooney, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Ralph Fiennes and her fiance Ben Affleck. Her movie credentials include "Mi Familia," "Money Train," "Jack," "Blood and Wine," "U-Turn," "Anaconda," "Out of Sight," "Cell," "Angel Eyes," "Enough," "The Wedding Planner," and the upcoming releases "Gigli," "Maid in Manhattan" and "Jersey Girl."

Lopez has earned two Grammy nominations for her debut album "On the 6" and four MTV Video Music Award nominations for the single "If You Had My Love." In addition to launching a clothing line, perfume and the Pasadena Eatery called "Madre's," she just released her fourth album, "This Is Me ... Then." Earlier this year, Lopez was named Entertainer of the Year by the National Council of La Raza, the largest Latino advocacy group in the nation, presented at the American Latino Media Arts Awards for TV and Film.

"Intimate Portrait" interviews include "Maid in Manhattan" co-star Ralph Fiennes, actor Jon Voight, actor Billy Campbell, actor Jon Seda, actor Edward James Olmos, Sony Pictures President Amy Pascal, producer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, director Wayne Wang, director Gregory Nava, director Kevin Smith, collaborator Cory Rooney, record producer Emilio Estefan, music video director Dave Meyers, and Lopez's sister Lynda.

Jennifer Lopez's INTIMATE PORTRAIT joins an extensive list of fascinating women who have personally shared their lives with Lifetime viewers. Hosted by Emmy award-winning journalist Meredith Vieira, this original series is anchored by one-on-one interviews with the featured women and their friends, family and colleagues -- using personal memorabilia, photos and home videos to showcase the women's triumphs, hardships and the turning points in their lives. INTIMATE PORTRAIT airs weeknights 7 p.m.-8 p.m. ET/PT.
