Del Taco, Menulink to Provide Back Office Technology for Franchisees

LAGUNA HILLS, California -- The nation's number two Mexican quick-serve chain, Del Taco Inc. today announced it has selected Huntington Beach, California-based MenuLink Computer Solutions Inc. to develop back office solutions for the company's franchisees.

In recent years, Del Taco's Franchisees have more than doubled, and the MenuLink solution will provide Del Taco's franchisee operators with a complete back office system including labor management and scheduling, inventory and sales tracking, order and delivery management, food cost and profit and loss analysis.

MenuLink's new concept of Hosting takes the pressure off the Del Taco Headquarters. There are several cost effective and time management features available for the Franchisee and Headquarters as well.

MenuLink will be responsible for maintaining the recipes and vendors at its Huntington Beach Headquarters. Changes will be edited at MenuLink, sent back to the stores electronically, allowing management at store level to focus on the real job, managing staff and the business at hand.

While MenuLink polls data from all franchisees nightly, that information becomes available though a variety of high-level informational reports. Reports are not only available at store level, but can also be accessed through any Internet browser anywhere in the world allowing owners to have their finger on the pulse of their business anytime, anywhere.

The MenuLink agreement will initially support the 60-plus stores to open in the franchisee system through this year as well as installations in its existing restaurants.

According to Paul Hitzelberger, Del Taco executive vice president of franchising, MenuLink offered the most comprehensive package backed by a strong customer service commitment. It is an easy-to-use system that can provide daily P&L's.

"The MenuLink solution will give Del Taco franchisees the technology they need so they can keep their focus on the guest and the food and reduce the time it takes operators to perform administrative tasks," said Hitzelberger. MenuLink has taken time management and consistency to an even higher level providing "scripting". By simply clicking on an icon, MenuLink begins its automated daily manager functions to be performed in the order that makes time management and business sense.

MenuLink has installations in thousands of restaurants throughout the United States and Canada.

Del Taco is a privately held company that operates, or franchises, 372 Mexican quick service restaurants throughout the United States.
