Maria E. Gallo has been named vice-president and manager of Union Bank of California's Emerging Markets Administration division. Her new responsibilities include expanding the bank's diversity efforts and community outreach in Northern and Southern California. Ms. Gallo joined Union Bank in 1981 as a commercial lender. Most recently she managed Small Business Service Internal Delivery, which she will continue to oversee.

Laura Hagan has been promoted to president of Katz Hispanic Media, a division of Katz Radio Group. She joined the division as an account executive in 1987 and was promoted to New York sales manager a year later. Following a brief stint at CBS Hispanic Radio Networks, Ms. Hagan rejoined KHM in 1992 and was promoted to vice-president two years later. She was named executive vice-president in 1998.

Mónica Mesones has been appointed weather and entertainment anchor for Telemundo's KSTS-TV48 in San Jose, California. Most recently, she was a sports reporter and backup anchor for Telemundo's KTMD-TV48 in Houston. The Uruguay native was a fashion model before starting her television career in 1995 as a co-host of Univision's "Onda Max." Ms. Mesones also has appeared in music videos for Ricky Martin and La Mafia.

People En Español has named Robert Gordillo its regional sales manager for the Western United States. Based out of the magazine's Los Angeles office, he is responsible for advertising revenue for the West Coast, the Southwest, and the Rocky Mountain region. Mr. Gordillo comes to People En Español from La Opinión, where he was national regional sales manager.

Michele Ruiz has been promoted to co-anchor of the 4 p.m. newscast for NBC4 in Los Angeles. Prior to joining the station as a general assignment reporter in 1998, she anchored the first and early editions of KTLA Morning News. Ms. Ruiz began her broadcasting career in 1989 as a news anchor for Whittle Communication s' "Channel One," a national news program for high school students. She is the recipient of three Los Angeles-area Emmy and two Golden Mike awards, among other honors.

José Mario Preza has been named vice-president and managing broker of Coast Pacific Financial mortgage brokerage and its real estate sales division, Realty World Metro Pacific, in San Francisco. He will be responsible for management, sales, recruiting, training, and administration in both offices. Mr. Preza previously managed RE/MAX and Century 21 offices throughout the San Francisco and surrounding regions.

Diane L. Montoya has been appointed marketing and development coordinator of ArcA. She will oversee marketing, public relations, and grant-writing efforts for the New Mexico-based nonprofit organization, which is devoted to obtaining community-based services for mentally retarded and developmentally disabled people. Ms. Montoya previously was an account executive for The Garrity Group Public Relations.

Enrique David López has been named senior community relations specialist for Reliant Energy in Houston. He will represent the company with civic, professional, and business organizations at the local, state, and national levels while focusing on the Hispanic market. Previously, Mr. López was vice-president/COO of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
